Welcome to Behaviour Impact Group (BIG) Ltd.
For decades, the West African industrial sector has been driven by resilience and rapid growth. However, organizations in mining, manufacturing, oil & gas, and public institutions across the sub-region are confronting a hard truth: many of today’s most persistent workplace problems are not caused by a lack of effort, competence, or commitment. They are caused by systems that unintentionally drive the wrong behaviour.
We are witnessing stagnation in safety performance, productivity gaps despite repeated training, and a growing loss of experienced professionals to opportunities abroad. These outcomes are often treated as people problems. They are not. They are design problems.
The Reality of the Landscape
Industrial safety has evolved through distinct waves. The first focused on engineering and physical controls—safer equipment and infrastructure. The second emphasized policies, procedures, and safety management systems such as ISO certifications. Both were necessary, and both have delivered value. However, they have now reached the point of diminishing returns.
Many organizations today are fully compliant on paper, yet unsafe acts, workarounds, and the normalization of risk persist on the ground. This is the reality of the third wave of safety: the behavioural imperative. When systems make shortcuts easier than safe work, behaviour adapts.
Sustainable safety requires engineering the conditions that influence daily behaviour.
The same pattern appears in performance and retention. When results decline, organizations default to training and coaching. Training solves only one problem: lack of skill (“Can’t Do”). But when targets are missed due to unclear expectations, broken processes, misaligned incentives, or fatigue, retraining does not become the solution.
The ‘BIG’ Intervention
It is on this proven premise – that most organizational problems are ‘system problems’, not ‘people problems’ – that I founded Behaviour Impact Group Ltd.
BIG Ltd operates as an organizational physician. Grounded in Organizational Behaviour Management (OBM), we diagnose the hidden behavioural and systemic friction points that quietly drive unsafe practices, inconsistent performance, and talent loss.
By combining deep understanding of West African industrial and cultural realities with international scientific standards, BIG Ltd is here to help organizations move beyond performance plateaus. Whether strengthening employee-owned safety culture, preparing for global safety accreditation, retaining critical talent, or optimizing production, BIG Ltd partners with leaders to engineer environments where the right behaviours occur consistently and naturally.
Through close professional relationships and technical collaboration with globally recognized experts in behavioural safety and OBM, BIG Ltd contributes to advancing evidence-based practice across the West African sub-region.
The Business Case
The business case is clear. Organizations that align systems with human behaviour experience fewer serious incidents, stronger execution, and lower unwanted turnover. Those that do not continue to absorb the hidden costs of rework, injuries, disengagement, and talent loss.
At BIG Ltd, we do not manage people.
We engineer the conditions that shape their behaviour.
Welcome to the science of lasting change.
We are your behaviour change partners. . . . Small behaviour change. BIG impact.
